Capstar is a fast-acting flea treatment tablet that can be given to both dogs and cats. Once administered it begins to work within 30 minutes, killing all adult fleas on your pet with a single dose.

Unlike once-a-month flea treatments, you can repeat the administration of Capstar if your pet becomes reinfested with fleas. Capstar is safe to administer up to once per day, and is also safe for pregnant or nursing dogs or cats.

Flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) are not only a nuisance, but can cause skin conditions such as flea allergy dermatitis in dogs and military dermatitis in cats. Fleas may also spread other parasites including tapeworms.

Is Capstar right for my pet?

Capstar Tablets are suitable for use on dogs, puppies, cats and kittens over 4 weeks of age, weighing 2 pounds (0.9 kg) minimum. Capstar is safe for use on pregnant or nursing dogs or cats.

Dosage Schedule

Capstar Tablets are suitable for both dogs and cats, with the dose based on your pet’s body weight. Please ensure you select the correct product for your pet’s weight.

Capstar Tablets may be placed directly in your pet’s mouth or hidden in food. If placed in the pet’s mouth, ensure it is not vomited up. If hidden in food, make sure that the tablet has been swallowed. It is safe to administer a second tablet if you are not sure that the first dose was swallowed.

This treatment is designed to kill adult fleas on the dog or cat only, and does not prevent re-infestation. If your pet becomes re-infested it is safe to administer another Capstar dose as often as once per day.

What are the side effects of Capstar?

Dogs and cats taking the same Capstar dosage may experience different reactions.

The most frequently reported side effects for dogs are lethargy and vomiting. Other reported side effects include itching, decreased appetite and diarrhea.

The most frequently reported side effects for cats are hyperactivity and panting. Other adverse reactions may include lethargy, itching, vocalization and vomiting.

What precautions should be taken?
